We are looking to support youth in our community who would like participate in the Centre for the Arts’ Film Camp for Teens. Our Sponsorship Program welcomes teens to take the camp for free.
We endeavour to include all youth who are interested in the camp but do not have the financial resources to attend. Some of the participants in the program have come from Soulpepper Theatre Company’s Youth Outreach Program, Trinity Bellwood’s Community Programs, St. Christopher House, Covenant House, 4Unity Productions and Theatre Revolve. Centre for the Arts is committed to working in partnership with these organizations in order to provide opportunities in arts education.
The Centre for the Arts is a not-for-profit organization in its eleventh year of operation and this is our 21st Film Camp for Teens.
This five day intensive camp gives teens a first-hand experience in professional filmmaking. They will conceptualize, write, direct, act, shoot and edit their own films. Many accomplished film professionals have donated their time to lead these workshops. Previous guests include Nicholas Campbell, Judith Thompson, Bruce McDonald, Saul Rubinek, Joan Hutton, Maury Chaykin, George Bloomfield, Sudz Sutherland, Mary Young Leckie, Jerry Ciccoritti and more.
In-kind donations have been provided from William F. White, Humber College, Sim Video, Trew Audio, Rancho Relaxo, PS and numerous others. We could not run the camp without their continued generous support.
We believe there is a real need for this kind of arts activity where young people can cultivate skills and express what is on their minds. Any financial contribution to support these teens through the Sponsorship Program is greatly appreciated.
