Joan Hutton
/A graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute Joan became a cinematographer with work featured in over 36 films. She was one of Canada's first woman cinematographers and is the first woman to be awarded the prestigious CSC by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers. She was president of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for twenty-two years. We recognize and celebrate Joan’s work behind the camera, but more importantly as a trailblazer for female cinematographers. Under her production company High Road Productions I had the opportunity to narrate a documentary film of Albania while she was the cinematographer. A complete professional - I learned a lot working with her. Three-time winner of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Best Photography Award. She remains Editor in Chief of the CSC magazine Canadian Cinematographer. We salute you, Joan, for helping to open the path for women in film.
